Dr. Barsanti has been recognized as one of America’s Most Honored Doctors of Pain Management!
Dr. John Barsanti graduated with Distinction from the University of Virginia. He subsequently obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. After an internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center, he then completed his residency in Anesthesia at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Barsanti was the first to complete a sub-specialty fellowship in Pain Management at MCV and then remained at the Medical College as an Assistant Professor. While at MCV, Dr. Barsanti served as the Director of the Cancer Pain Clinic and Co-Director of the Pain Management Center at MCV. He was involved in numerous studies and co-authored several research papers.
Dr. John Barsanti, now in private practice, continues to be a leader in the pain management community and has lectured extensively throughout the country. He currently serves on the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee, representing interventional pain management. He also is serving as a committee member for the Board of Medicine Prescription Monitoring Program.
Dr. Barsanti feels fortunate to have the opportunity to render care that will have such a significant positive impact on his patients. He enjoys problem-solving a patient’s complex medical condition and formulating an easy-to-follow plan that will put the patient back on the road to recovery.
Dr. John Barsanti has been recognized nationally by the Consumer Research Council as “America’s Top Physician” in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. Richmond Magazine has also recognized him yearly, since 2000, as a “Top Doc” in Pain Management specialty. He also has received the “Best Bedside Manner – 2019” award, published by Richmond’s OurHealth Magazine. Dr. Barsanti has been awarded as one of America’s Most Honored Doctors for 2020!
Outside of the office, Dr. Barsanti enjoys playing golf, skiing, cooking for his family and rooting for the local basketball and football teams. He loves the small-town feel of Richmond – the city is both historical and cutting edge at the same time.
